Adolescent Substance Use Disorders (SUD) & Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) 101
At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
• Describe the basic neuroscience of addiction with particular emphasis on the role of dopamine
• Explain how SUD is a chronic medical condition
• Compare differences in brain development and function in adults and adolescents and how these predispose adolescents to misuse substances
• List three medications that are FDA approved for the treatment of OUD
• List at least two difficulties adolescents face in accessing MAT
• Describe three ways to make harm reduction more accessible to adolescents

This webinar is intended for members of county-based CA teams working to expand access to MAT for persons with justice and/or child welfare system involvement and their partners and stakeholders. MAT in Jails and Drug Courts is funded by DHCS with general state funds as a program in DHCS’ MAT Expansion Project.
